Can You Bill My Insurance?

Navigating the world of medical equipment and insurance billing is often difficult and confusing. Our customers commonly ask whether we can directly bill insurance companies for products purchased at Nebology.com. Keep reading to learn the answer and the reasons behind our pay out-of-pocket practices.

Direct Billing and its Effects on Cost

Unfortunately, Nebology.com cannot bill insurance companies directly. If we did, our retail prices would have to be much higher to comply with regulations surrounding Medicare and health insurance. Specifically, Medicare requires retailers to not sell products at prices that are lower than the amounts billed to Medicare.

A Smart Choice for Out-of-Pocket Patients

Many of customers purchase from us and pay out-of-pocket. Perhaps that’s because they aren’t able to find PARI products from a local medical supply company, or because they want to buy a product that helps them live better, but isn’t deemed as a medical necessity by an insurance company. For example, although our battery-powered travel nebulizers let our customers enjoy greater amounts of freedom, the majority of insurers don’t cover them.

Contact Your Insurance Company for Clarification

Some of our customers take a proactive approach by personally submitting Nebology.com invoices to their insurance companies for reimbursement. You’ll need to get in touch with your insurance company to find out whether that practice is acceptable, because specifics vary widely by provider. Nebology.com is happy to provide you with both a generic medical claim form, an invoice for your purchase, and the billing (CPT or HCPCS) codes necessary to submit the claim on your own. We cannot guarantee your specific policy will allow reimbursement, but if it does, this is a great way to get the exact products you want while also using your insurance plan funds!

Hopefully, you now have a clearer understanding of why we can’t directly bill insurance companies, and more importantly, feel more informed about how to find out if reimbursement is possible for the supplies you buy at Nebology.com.
